I want my food TV!

Who doesn't love watching a cooking show on which a charming celebrity chef makes whipping up a souffle seem as easy as tying your shoelaces?  Still, you may want to rethink your viewing habits in light of a new study involving 80 adults that found people consumed significantly more chocolate-covered candies after watching a food-related TV show than after viewing a nature program.

Certain areas of the brain related to pleasure and eating were activated when the subjects were exposed to the cooking program, and this likely led them to eat more sweets after watching it,
explains study coauthor Jamie Bodenlos, PhD, an assistant professor of psychology at Hobart and William Smith Colleges.  So if you must watch, eat a substantial meal beforehand to prevent postshow snack attacks.
